🏮Let’s Celebrate Chinese New Year Together!
Welcome to the Chinese New Year Village.
The Chinese New Year Village is a cultural event created by Okydée, designed to bring to life, share, and celebrate the richness of Chinese traditions in a warm, family-friendly, and deeply human atmosphere.
Here, you can taste, learn, create, play, and marvel—
as if stepping into a home, into a family that opens its doors with generosity.
This event is carried by two personal paths:
- Sha Sha, founder of the association, who embodies transmission, love for her roots, and the beauty of an art that connects, soothes, and nurtures the soul—despite the distance from her homeland.
- Hong-Gi, whose work is guided by deep creative sensitivity, a sincere attachment to her origins, and a heartfelt desire to share her multicultural influences and curiosities, also far from her native land.
Together, their paths weave a living, sincere, and meaningful cultural bridge.

To accompany this Chinese New Year under the sign of the Horse, we chose a chengyu, 龙马精神 (lóng mǎ jīng shén), featured on the official Chinese New Year poster.
But what is a chengyu?
A chengyu is a traditional Chinese expression, usually composed of four characters, that conveys profound wisdom, symbolic imagery, or philosophical meaning in just a few words. Rooted in history, literature, and classical thought, chengyu condense centuries of culture into concise expressions.
The chengyu 龙马精神 evokes vibrant energy, inner strength, and an enthusiastic drive forward.
It combines two powerful symbols of Chinese culture:
- The Dragon, representing vitality, wisdom, and powerful life force
- The Horse, symbolizing endurance, movement, freedom, and perseverance
This expression is often used to wish someone good health, abundant energy, and confidence in their efforts—both in work and in daily life.
For the Year of the Horse, we chose to highlight the Spirit of the Horse on Sunday, February 15, 2026: a symbol of vitality, dynamism, and forward momentum, enriched by the depth and strength of the Dragon’s spirit.
This chengyu perfectly reflects the intention of the Chinese Village:
a living, moving event, carried by collective energy, sharing, and transmission.
🏮 Our Vision: A Living Village, Not a Simple Market
The Chinese Village is not just a series of stalls.
It is a space of cultural transmission, where each person shares what they love:
- a gesture learned in childhood
- a Chinese family tradition
- a personal passion
- a craft or artistic skill
- a story or cultural memory
There is no competition here, no comparison.
Each participant—artist, presenter, or contributor—brings:
- their own sensitivity
- their own style
- their unique way of expressing Chinese culture
The Village becomes a place of encounter, solidarity, and collective joy in celebrating Chinese New Year together.
🏮 The Ten Treasures: The Cultural Foundation of the Village
The Village activities are inspired by the Ten Treasures of Chinese culture, which also form the foundations of classical Chinese dance:

- Peking Opera – Inspiring expressive movement, codified gestures, and theatrical storytelling.
- Chinese Martial Arts – Especially taiji and kung fu, balancing power, flexibility, and control.
- Chinese Calligraphy – The body moves like a brush, writing emotions in space.
- Chinese Silk – Flowing fabrics enhancing elegance and fluid motion.
- Chinese Embroidery – Rich symbolism and refinement in traditional costumes.
- Tea Ceremony – Harmony, hospitality, slowness, and heartfelt transmission.
- The Game of Go – Strategy, emotion, and mindful movement intertwined.
- Chinese Porcelain – Apparent fragility revealing inner strength.
- Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) – Movement as a path to energetic balance.
- Paper Cutting – Wishes shaped by hand and shared from the heart.
These treasures give rise to:
🧧 Living workshops
🧧 Demonstrations
🧧 Educational exhibitions
🧧 Immersive spaces
They invite visitors to experience culture through gesture, material, breath, and creativity.
